Chapter History
Daughters of the American Revolution
The Don José Verdugo Chapter, of the National Society of the Daughters, the American Revolution, NSDAR or DAR was organized on March 27, 1953, by Mrs. Guy Warren Hull, the chapter’s first regent. The chapter‘s name was chosen for its proximity to the land grant of patriot Don José Verdugo. Most members live in the Crescenta Valley, however local residency is not a requirement for any chapter. Our membership predominantly resides in the foothill communities of La Cañada, La Crescenta, Montrose, Sunland, Tujunga and Altadena.
The Don José Verdugo Chapter, NSDAR, meets the first Friday of the month, February through June and October through December. If you would like to attend one of our meetings, please contact us.
We welcome any woman for membership, who is 18 years of age or older and who is descended from a man or a woman who aided in achieving American independence during the period between April 19, 1775, and November 26, 1783.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit nonpolitical women’s volunteer service organization dedicated to our mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
